Any part of the Marijuana Plant?
As a parents of a teenager I have struggled with my teen using marijuana. My struggle as a parent has been overwhelming, expensive and I have spent a lot of time in therapy trying to get help for myself and my teen. I know these teen years are so imperative to get them off to a responsible adult life. Therefore, I never thought back then I would be writing a blog on some of the benefits that parts of this plant offers. But as a health Care Practitioner (Registered Dietitian) keeping up with Medical Science is crucial for being able to help my patients and clients.
The Marijuana plant is also known as Cannabis. The main pshychoactive drug from the marijuana plant is tetrahydrocannabinaol, also known as THC. “Marijuana can be used by smoking, vaporizing, within food, or as an extract. The mental side and physical side effects create a feeling of being “high” or “stoned”. THC changes ones’ perception. The short-term side effects include short term memory loss, impaired motor function, feeling of paranoia or anxiety. Those who started as teenagers may have long term effects which include addiction, decreased mental ability and behavioral problems in children whose mothers used marijuana during pregnancy”. The Entourage Effect Cannabidiol (CBD)
Cannabidiol (CBD) is the nonpsychoactive component of cannabis. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), it doesn’t induce a “high,” but has many clinical benefits. Some of the benefits of CBD Oil includes relieving natural pain such as sore muscles, appetite stimulation for patients on chemotherapy and some antioxidant benefits. It also has been shown to relieve stress and anxiety.
Concentrated CBD Oil interacts with the body through a system discovered in the late 1980’s known as the Endogenous Cannabinoid System (ECS). The ECS System is a lipid-based retrograde neurotransmitter that binds to the cannabinoid receptor proteins that are throughout the central nervous system which includes the brain. Therefore, there may be benefits for Alzheimer’s and Dementia. There is still a lot of research being done which we will see coming within the years to come. If you are looking for CBD Oil, I have a brand that I highly recommend. It is Popular CBD Brands. I got involved with Pop The CBD from a fellow dietitian that introduced me to it. The owner of the company has high integrity and wanted to help people improve their health.
I have personally used the CBD Oil on my sore muscles and I am recommending this to my clients, patients and friends that may have health issues that may benefit from the use of CBD Oil. I also recommend this for anybody struggling with the pressures in life that may cause anxiety and/or depression. It’s so ironic that the very plant that caused me trouble with my teen has a part of it that can be so helpful to so many.
